We work to move the world in general and the financial sector in particular, in a more sustainable direction. Our commitment to promoting sustainable investment is internationally recognized.
Our commitments
- The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi): We have committed to setting Science Based Targets aligned with a 1,5 degree scenario.

UNEP FINANCE INITIATIVE (UNEP FI): We actively support and participate in the UN financial initiative. Our aim is that sustainability considerations should be part of all financial decisions we make.

The United Nations Global Compact: The world's largest initiative to promote sustainability commercially. We support their principles.

The UN Principles for Responsible Investments (PRI): PRI is the world's most important network of investors working on six fundamental principles for responsible investment. The members of the network manage a total of $ 90,000 billion in capital.

The Montréal Pledge: By signing the Montréal Carbon Pledge, we as an investor commit to measuring and publicly disclosing the carbon footprint of our investments on an annual basis.

The Portfolio Decarbonisation Coalition: We are committed to reducing the carbon footprint of our investments.

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP): We report on our own carbon footprint, and support CDP in encouraging increased reporting on CO2 strategies and carbon footprint from other companies. - The Principles of Sustainable Insurance (PSI): Together with 30 other insurance companies and industry organizations, Storebrand signed UNEP FI's Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI) in 2012.
- Tobacco-Free Finance Pledge: For Storebrand, divesting from tobacco in all funds and portfolios was a natural step already in 2005. Tobacco is a substance with profound negative effect on public health. By signing the Tobacco-Free Finance Pledge in 2018, we want to encourage others to do the same and thus contribute to a tobacco-free world.

Ethical Banking Guide: The Ethical Banking Guide is part of the international Fair Finance Guide initiative. The analysis ranks companies on a scale from zero to 100 in a number of categories. In 2019 Storebrand achieved a total score of 82 percent.

Hållbart värdeskapande: (Sustainable Value Creation): This is a collaborative project between 17 of Sweden's main financial institutions listed on the Nasdaq OMX Stockholm on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. The project was launched in 2009 after Storebrand, being an investor and owner of several Swedish companies, identified a need for highlighting the importance of a structured corporate approach to sustainability.
Certification
We work continuously and systematically to reduce the environmental impact of our business operation. Storebrand's environmental management system is certified according to the Norwegian national environmental certification scheme Miljøfyrtårn, and has since 2009 been re-certified every three years.
