Privacy policy and personal information

Our privacy policy and how we treat personal information in the Storebrand Group.

How Storebrand treats personal information

We depend on the trust of our customers. That is why we are serious about protecting your privacy. All of your personal information is safe with us, including any information that can be linked directly to you as a person, such as your national ID number, contact information and information about which products you have with us.

Collection of personal information

Storebrand handles personal information primarily in association with customer management, billing and invoicing, and implementation of the contracts and agreements we have with our customers.

In addition, personal information is used for the following purposes:

  • Contact management and marketing
  • Risk assessments of customers and credit portfolios
  • Prevention and detection of criminal activity
  • We may record phone calls and store other customer communication during investment counselling

In most cases, Storebrand obtains this information directly from you. We may occasionally retrieve information from other sources, which may include both public and private entities.

We inform you whenever we collect information about you, except in cases where the collection of information is required by law, if it is impossible or unreasonably difficult to give due notice, or if we know that you are already aware that we collect this information.

Recording phone calls and storing other customer communication

When Storebrand offers investment services, we are required by law to make audio recordings of all phone calls, and to document all other customer communication such as via e-mail and chat.

Other phone calls may be recorded if you consent to it.

Recording phone calls and storing other customer communication

Customer Surveys

We conduct short surveys with our customers after they have been in contact with Storebrand. The feedback we receive from these surveys provides us with valuable input about how we can improve our products and services. It also allows us to measure the effect of our improvement efforts, as well as to understand how customer satisfaction affects customer behavior over time.

If you do not want to share this type of information with us you can simply refrain from responding to the survey.

Disclosure of personal information

Internally within the Storebrand Group

The Storebrand Group has an internal consolidated customer database that is available to all the companies in the Group. The purpose of having one consolidated customer database is to enable us to provide our customers with the best possible service, as well as information and promotions related to our products and services. The customer database contains the following information about you:

  • name
  • national ID number
  • address
  • contact information
  • information of which entity or entities in the Group you have a customer relationship with
  • the services and products you have purchased

We need your explicit consent to include or disclose any other personal information in the consolidated customer database across the different entities in the Group.

For us to provide you with the best possible service, as well as information and promotions related to our products and services, you can consent to the Storebrand Group using your customer data. You can do this by logging in to your personal pages.

The insurance companies' Central Registry

All companies that sell life insurance or other personal insurance are required to send certain personal information to the insurance companies’ central registry, ROFF (Register over forsikringssøkere og forsikrede). The registry is managed by Finans Norge/Finance Norway, the industry organization for the financial industry in Norway. This registry does not include sensitive personal information.

In order to prevent and limit insurance fraud in connection with accident reports and claims, insurance companies also have a central claims registry, FOSS (Forsikringsselskapenes sentrale skaderegister).

We will inform you when information about you is registered in ROFF or FOSS.

In cases of suspected money laundering and terrorist financing

Storebrand is required to process personal data in order to prevent, detect, solve and manage cases of fraud and other criminal offences. This information is obtained from and disclosed to other banks and financial institutions, the police and other public authorities. Storebrand is required to report suspicious information and transactions to ØKOKRIM (the Norwegian National Authority for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime).

Data Owner

The Data Owner is the entity that determines for which purpose personal data may be used. In the Storebrand Group, the Data Owner is the CEO of the company you have your contract(s) with.

Data processing

Storebrand has entered into data processing agreements with subcontractors. Our proprietary data processing agreements regulate all the personal information that is shared with our subcontractors. Our subcontractors cannot use the information for purposes other than those they are obtained for.

Your rights

Transparency

You have the right to receive information about what personal information we use and how we use it. You can view most of the information we have on you as a customer on your personal pages.

Corrections

It is important that the information we have about you is correct, and that the data is necessary in order to implement the agreements we have made with you and provide you with high quality service. You can request that we correct and delete information about you if it is inadequate or unnecessary.

Deletion

Storebrand deletes personal information when it is no longer required to fulfil the purpose it was obtained for. This means that as long as you have an agreement with us, we will store necessary information about you. When the agreement is terminated, we will store the relevant information until the limitation period for the products in question has expired.
