In 1995 Storebrand established, as the first Norwegian company, an in-house research department for sustainable investments. We still have the largest specialist environment for sustainable investments in Norway.

Since 1995 our thematic and methodological approach to sustainable investments has undergone continuous development. In 1995 the focus was on providing specialised environmental products, whereas today we have a broad range of standards that apply to all our investments.

  • 1996 Storebrand's Scudder Environmental Value fund was launched.
  • 2001Storebrand becomes the first Norwegian Life Insurance company to introduce ethical criteria for all investments (both Norwegian and international investments).
  • 2004 Minimum standards introduced for all capital managed by Storebrand.
  • 2005 Storebrand's "Group Standard for Sustainable Investments" launched. In addition Storebrand made its first investments in Microfinance.
  • 2008 Introduction of climate criteria. Renewed focus on engagement with external fund managers.
  • 2010 Sustainable Investment analysis introduced for companies from Emerging Markets

Storebrand is currently a world leader in the field of Sustainable Investments.
